What to check before placing an order

Imagine a 50-unit controller build with one scarce IC and a required power-on test. Resolve component availability and test coverage before comparing the assembled-board price.

01

Resolve the scarce component

Confirm the exact part number, available sourcing route and any substitute that needs your approval. Include procurement time in the schedule.

02

Define the test

Supply firmware, voltage, fixture requirements and expected outputs. Optical inspection does not replace a power-on or functional test.

03

Compare the complete scope

Request the same board quantity, stack-up, assembly scope and shipping destination. Recheck the total after component matching is complete.

Get comparable quotes

Send the same controlled manufacturing package to each supplier. Match the delivered quantity, parts responsibility and testing before comparing totals.

Your quote-comparison checklist

01Gerber and drill files with the same revision
02Board quantity, stack-up, material and finish

04Placement data and assembly drawings, if needed
05Test procedure, programming and fixture requirements
06Required delivery date and destination

Include components, setup, assembly, testing, freight and applicable import costs.

Frequently asked questions

What should I include in a PCB assembly quote request?

Send Gerber and drill files, your BOM, pick-and-place data, assembly drawings and order quantity. Include material, finish and stack-up requirements, plus programming and testing instructions. A complete package helps the team identify open questions before production.

How should I compare inspection and functional testing?

Inspection checks assembly features such as placement and solder joints. Functional testing checks whether the assembled board behaves as intended under a defined procedure. Specify the test fixture, firmware, inputs, expected outputs and pass criteria when requesting a quote.

Is PCBPit cheaper than JLCPCB?

There is no universal answer. Compare quotations for the same board revision, quantity, BOM, sourcing arrangement, test scope and delivery destination. A promotional bare-board price is not the total price of an assembled and tested order.

Does JLCPCB provide engineering support?

Yes. Its official assembly information describes DFM/DFA analysis and engineering review. PCBPit also provides engineering review. Compare how your specific questions, approval steps and project requirements will be handled rather than assuming only one supplier provides support.

Can PCBPit help with components and assembly?

Yes. PCBPit's website lists component sourcing and turnkey or consigned PCB assembly. Send your BOM, pick-and-place data and manufacturing files, and identify any parts that must not be substituted.

What if a component is not in JLCPCB's library?

JLCPCB lists additional sourcing routes, including global procurement and consigned parts. Check the current eligibility and lead time for the specific part rather than assuming an unlisted component cannot be assembled.

Can I move an existing design to PCBPit?

Start by providing the current Gerbers, drill files, BOM, pick-and-place data and fabrication notes. Ask the team to confirm the stack-up, material, finish, assembly requirements and test plan before releasing a new order. Changing suppliers is not a substitute for checking the manufacturing package.

Will a one-business-day response mean my boards ship the next day?

No. PCBPit's typical initial-response timing is not a manufacturing or shipping promise. Fabrication, component procurement, assembly, testing and transit need to be included in the agreed schedule.
