What this preview can—and cannot—tell you.

A clean visual stackup is the first check for a production package. Confirm that the board outline is closed, copper appears on the intended side, solder mask exposes the correct pads and drill data aligns with plated features.

The viewer can identify common filenames and Gerber attributes, but it does not know your manufacturer’s process limits. For production, compare the preview with your source design and request a full DFM review.

Ask PCBPit
01Are my Gerber files uploaded to PCBPit?+

No. The viewer reads and renders the selected files inside your browser. Your design data is not sent to our server.

02Which PCB files can I open?+

The viewer supports common Gerber and Gerber X2 layer files, Excellon drill files and ZIP packages containing those production files.

03Can this viewer replace a fabrication DFM check?+

No. It helps you visually confirm layers, orientation, board dimensions and obvious missing files. A manufacturer DFM review also checks process-specific rules such as annular rings, copper-to-edge clearance and drill capability.

04Why is a layer classified as unknown?+

Legacy and custom file extensions do not always describe their purpose. Rename files using common Gerber conventions or export Gerber X2 attributes, then open the package again.

05Can I use the preview for a PCB quote?+

Yes. After checking the package, use the engineer review link to send your files and requirements to PCBPit for a manufacturing quote.
